Why Board Games?
December 6, 2017
The most simple question may be; Why Board Games?
How do you connect with people you know very little about? We at the Sunset Room BGC have sought after this formula for years. Any conversationalist may know when they have intrigued someone or caught the attention of an audience, but how? Is it a spark in someone's eyes/expression, or a sudden close of a physical gap between the parties? It may stem from a deeply ingrained vivid memory that a certain conversation may help someone to relive, or it may be from a yearning of another to understand what makes us all similar. I believe it is more. More than a spark or an intimate understanding of where one another may be coming from that intrigues people. To me it seems like the most interesting aspect of a conversation or where it may lead is the initial push. That first impression that can expel that vital confidence which generates life into the breathe of conversation.
To spread that feeling of true connection with one another many people turn to your typical bar or whatever else is marketed as an intimate experience, but do you truly get to know someone or their strengths through such a select experience base? We have nothing against bars, but we want to offer something else to the diverse scope of things you could do with your night. Which is why when @sunsetroombgc was created, I knew we had something different, and people around the nation visiting board game cafe's may agree.
Playing a game with someone is a way of interaction, possibly without all the physical pain that other sports may bring - though we have seen some intense games of Bunco ;). Challenging one another, reading strategies, and devising new ways to get to the victory line creates an unparalleled camaraderie. Trick, trash talk, triumph, and tag your friends in posts from the Sunset Room to make each experience special and inventive. We want to share our sanctuary above the cityscape with people looking for an atmosphere that promotes laughter, active engagement, and something your apartment or typical nightclub can't provide. Try to stay silent while playing a game of What Do You Meme, or keep a straight face when someone acts out daring impressions in Cranium Dark, maybe you can even keep from shouting when you win a game of Settlers of Catan. That's my challenge to you though.
